She was instrumental in Virginia's legislature passing a resolution declaring pornography a public health hazard.
She is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and pursued graduate studies at the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her Certificate of Completion from the Center for Biblical Counseling of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is a Certified Life Breakthrough Coach with Life Breakthrough Academy.
She makes her home in Virginia, celebrates 55 years of marriage, has two adult children and 2 grandchildren.
